The Second Meeting of Transport Ministers of Central Asian Countries was held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – On the eve of the VI Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, the Second Meeting of Transport Ministers of Central Asia was held in Astana on August 8, 2024. The event was attended by the transport ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed current issues of cooperation in the areas of transit corridors, rail and road transport, as well as air transport. The countries' policy on developing transport connectivity, aimed at building roads and railways, opening new ones and expanding the international air traffic network, was particularly emphasized.

Following the event, the Astana Communique was signed, securing the intentions of the parties to further strengthen cooperation.

In addition, the ministers signed a Memorandum aimed at interaction between the countries in the framework of creating a favorable environment for attracting investment, developing infrastructure and improving the regulatory framework governing the activities of transport and logistics centers.

The signing of the Memorandum was a logical continuation of the Agreement on Strengthening the Connectivity of Land Transport in Central Asia signed in Dushanbe in 2023.
