Three logistics centers worth $900 million are being built in Tashkent Region — hokim

Three logistics centers are being built in Tashkent Region — in the Angren and Akhangaran area, as well as in the Yangiyul and Kibray districts, regional hokim Zoyir Mirzayev said. One of the projects is being implemented jointly with entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan. The total announced investment volume for the centers amounts to $900 million.

Three logistics center projects with a total value of $900 million are being implemented in Tashkent Region, regional hokim Zoyir Mirzayev said in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel following a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to him, the first facility is being built in the Angren and Akhangaran area and is expected to become a major distribution center.

“This is a logistics hub that meets international standards. Investments of $100 million are planned here, and the entrepreneur has already been identified. The China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway is being launched. The logistics hub must begin operations before this railway is launched. At the moment, this is the most convenient opportunity for us,” the hokim said.

The second logistics center is planned in Yangiyul district. It is being built jointly with entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan on an area of about 150 hectares.

“The cost of the project is $300 million. To date, $144 million has already been received. The task is to complete the project and accelerate construction,” Zoyir Mirzayev noted.

The third center will be built in Kibray district, on the border with Kazakhstan, near the border post named after S. Nazhimov. A 20-hectare land plot has been selected for the project. “Foreign investments of $500 million are planned,” the regional head said.

According to the hokim, the three logistics centers will create at least 7,000 jobs.

“Most importantly, one aspect should be emphasized — something we have not paid enough attention to until now. The three logistics centers will create at least 7,000 jobs. The respected president instructed that conditions be provided there for accommodation, recreation and services for the people who will work at these centers,” he said.

Zoyir Mirzayev added that a presidential document will be adopted following the presentation.

“It must be adopted within a very short period. We, as hokims, have been instructed to act as the main initiators in accelerating this process and organizing the work,” the hokim of Tashkent Region said.

Earlier, during the presentation to the president, it was noted that Angren, as well as the Yangiyul and Akhangaran districts of Tashkent Region, are planned to be developed as intermediate distribution centers for transit and foreign trade cargo.

As part of proposals to develop the transport and logistics system, the construction of a large category “A” logistics center in Akhangaran district, the expansion of a railway station in Yangiyul district, the creation of customs terminals and parking areas, the digitalization of the sector and the introduction of the “one-stop” principle at the border were also considered.
