It is proposed to create a unified online registry and order aggregator for freight carriers

Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the progress of major projects in the transport and logistics sector.

At the meeting, the need to expand the network of logistics centers within Uzbekistan for the use of international corridors was noted. The President heard reports on the implementation of previously set tasks to specialize the Angren, Khanabad, Akhangaran, Alat, Termez and Yangiyul districts in the transport sector.

It is planned to build 17 logistics complexes and terminals in Tashkent and four regions. The meeting participants discussed issues of their location, attracting investors, financing and providing infrastructure.

The topic of digitalizing freight transportation and reducing the shadow sector in the industry was also raised. At present, informal transport services still exceed 42% of the sector’s total turnover.

One of the main problems in the sector is considered to be the lack of a unified register for local freight road transport. To date, no electronic system has been created that combines the formation of electronic orders and transport services.

It is proposed to create a unified digital transport system, a register of carriers, and an aggregator for receiving electronic waybills and orders.

In addition, measures to expand the exchange of electronic permits and launch real-time tracking of international cargo were considered. It is expected that the introduction of new solutions will make things more convenient for carriers, legalize informal services and increase transparency in the road transport sector.
