A free customs zone, Porto-Franco, has been opened at Navoi Airport
At Navoi International Airport, the Porto-Franco free customs zone has been opened, intended for the development of cargo logistics and international transportation. The project was implemented within the framework of the decree of the President of Uzbekistan No. PP-50 dated February 9, 2026.
The new zone will make it possible to import and store goods without paying customs duties, process them, and also carry out import, export, and transit operations.
It is expected that this will reduce the time and financial costs of cargo clearance and speed up their dispatch to their destination.
The project is aimed at improving the airport’s efficiency and making fuller use of its transport and logistics potential. According to the organizers, the Porto-Franco zone has no analogues in Central Asia.
The opening ceremony was attended by the director of LLC “Navoi International Airport” Alisher Klichev, representatives of the Customs Committee, partner organizations, and other guests.
The airport is expanding its technical capabilities
At the same time, the airport is introducing new equipment for aircraft servicing. An ACU (Air Conditioning Unit) has been put into operation, designed to supply cooled or heated air to the aircraft cabin while it is parked on the ground.
The equipment makes it possible to maintain comfortable conditions for passengers and crew and to improve the efficiency of ground handling of aircraft.
The opening of Porto-Franco and the introduction of additional equipment are aimed at strengthening the position of Navoi International Airport as a logistics hub for cargo transportation.
