Uzbekistan increased its air cargo volume by 182% over five years

Uzbekistan has become one of the fastest-growing markets in Central Asia in terms of cargo air transport development. In 2019–2024, the volume of air cargo in the country increased by 182%.

This was announced by the Head of the Air Transport Department of the Ministry of Transport, Zhamoliddin Nazarov, at the international aviation summit Central Asia Air Cargo III, which is taking place in Tashkent.

According to him, in 2025, 98 thousand tons of cargo were transported through Uzbekistan’s airports. In the first half of 2026, the volume of cargo air transport increased by another 33%.

The development of the industry is supported by the country’s geographical location, the “open skies” policy, and the reforms being carried out in the aviation sector. Uzbekistan is implementing projects to develop a cargo hub based at Navoi International Airport, build new cargo terminals, and attract international airlines.

The country has also identified long-term tasks for further expanding the air cargo market. In particular, by 2036 it is planned to increase the volume of shipments to 300 thousand tons.

To achieve this goal, the development of airport infrastructure, expansion of logistics capabilities, and the introduction of international standards in the industry are envisaged.

“Uzbekistan is open to participants in the international air cargo market and offers new opportunities,” Zhamoliddin Nazarov noted.
