A new airport to be opened in Tashkent in 2020
Uzbekistan Temir Yollari Joint-Stock Company (Uzbekistan Railways) plans to commission the first phase of a modern airport civilian (business) aviation complex based on the Tashkent-East airfield in 2020.
The company noted that two terminals will be built within the project. The first of them is intended for meetings of heads of states, officials and delegations. The second is designed to serve passengers and business representatives in accordance with international standards. Also within the project a modern cargo terminal will be built.
The airport will be able to receive and maintain all types of aircraft including the Airbus A380. During the construction of two runways with a length of 4000 meters, all international requirements are taken into account to ensure a high level of flight safety.
The project envisages equipping the airfield with modern lighting, radio engineering and meteorological equipment of category “III ICAO”, which will ensure the take-off and landing of aircraft in adverse weather conditions.
At present, 17 thousand cubic meters of concrete work have been completed on the first airstrip, the volume of excavation work on the construction of the second airstrip is 125 thousand cubic meters.
In the near future, an administrative building, the Catering building, transformer substations, a refueling complex, and other facilities necessary for the effective functioning of the airport will be erected in the new airport complex.
