Concept of development of transport complex of Tashkent city discussed

In August 2018, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held on the development of the country’s transport sector, at which the head of state instructed the Tashkent khokim to develop a concept of radical reforming of Tashkent’s public transport system by 1 January 2019 with a foreign engineering company.

In order to fulfill the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Adviser to the Minister of Moscow Government, the Head of the Department of External Economic and International Relations of Moscow Oleg Shutenko, the Deputy Director of the Moscow City Transport and Research Institute (Moscow State Budgetary Enterprise “MosTransProject”) Peter Barsukov, head of the transport planning department of the state-owned enterprise “MosTransProekt” Sergey Ivasenko arrived in Tashkent.

From the Uzbek side, the meeting was attended by representatives of Tashkent khokimiyat, the Uzavtotrans Agency, the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent, the Tashkent Institute for Design, Construction and Operation of Highways, the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the City and the Toshkent Metropolitan.

The presented concept covers the optimization of parking space, the route network of the city, the priority of public transport over personal transport, training of transport system personnel and much more.

After considering the presentation, the parties discussed in detail the points of the presented concept. The Uzbek side requested to provide a timetable for the implementation of the concept items with the obligatory indication that the author’s supervision will be carried out throughout the time.
