Roland Berger GmbH (Germany) will take part in development of a Concept for future development of roads in Uzbekistan.
A draft resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures to attract advanced foreign methods of organizing work in the construction and operation of highways” was published.
The document noted that Uzbekistan will develop the Concept for future development of roads with the involvement of leading foreign consulting companies.
The concept will include the introduction of modern standards and technologies in the design, construction and reconstruction, as well as the repair of roads, depending on their categories, ensuring the improvement of the quality and service life of roads.
Within the framework of the concept, a program of construction and reconstruction of public roads for the period 2019–2040 will be developed, taking into account the prospective assessment of the socio-economic development of the republic and regions, as well as the most efficient use of the country’s transit potential.
The document will determine the policy for financing the design, construction, reconstruction and repair of roads, including on the terms of a public-private partnership.
In preparation for the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Germany, a preliminary agreement was reached with Roland Berger GmbH (Germany) to assist in the development of the Development Concept.
According to the document, the government agencies will work on creation of joint ventures with German companies for the production of modern building materials used in the construction and operation of highways in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan will also establish cooperation with foreign engineering companies, from among the leading German companies in the field of designing roads and artificial structures.
Measures will be taken to apply advanced foreign experience in development of roadside infrastructure, the introduction of modern elements of landscape design, gardening and landscaping along roads.
The state bodies will work out the issues of attracting financial resources of foreign credit institutions for the implementation of projects for the construction and reconstruction of highways, as well as the provision of modern equipment to road maintenance enterprises.
